When we built the first version of Slides Generator, we wanted to solve a simple problem.
Making slides is time-consuming.
Our goal was that people wouldn't have to make slides anymore. We took a document outline in Google Docs and generated a Google Slides presentation from it.
Including text, images, tables and videos. Preserving the formatting as much as possible.
In a short span of time, this simple product has already gained thousands of downloads and provided a tremendous amount of value and savings in time and effort.
But we're not done yet.
The fun only just got started.
We've been busy working on a new product that will delight our users.
Web slides.
We have spoken to different people for whom presentations is their bread and butter. That feedback has heavily informed our next product.
Here's a sneak peak into the wishlist:
Our view is that we can't solve these problems by sticking with Google Slides as the end product.
Building a new product based on old technologies is an uphill challenge!
With web slides, we free ourselves from the technical limitations inherent in Google Slides.
Just by changing the medium, we are able to solve these problems. Or better still, these problems just go away!
A whole range of product development possibilities become available to us that we didn't have before.
We are excited to build the next generation of presentation software that isn't bound by the limits of existing technology.
We're excited to share some of the features.
Today's presentations aren't just pure content. People want to easily interact with a range of web apps and reference content from elsewhere.
Currently, this means going off platform and potentially navigating dozens of tabs.
With web slides, we scan your content for links and automatically create slides with those websites and videos embedded into them. You can later re-order these as you like.
Getting your equations from Google Docs into your presentations can be a bit of a challenge.
With web slides, we take LaTeX, MathML and AsciiMath notation and display them beautifully in your presentations. You can specify whether you want to display them inline or block style.
Got overflowing content? Overflowing is no longer an issue when slides are scrollable. Go ahead and let your content overflow.
Slides are not just for big screens. People want to view slides on a range of tablet and mobile devices.
With web slides, content scales according to the device size. You don't have to worry about device aspect ratios and resizing content.
We're just getting started with widgets here. Our very first offering is a built-in timer widget with music to help with classroom time management. Something that teachers, instructors and course facilitors will love.
We make styling presentations fun and easy.
Immediately apply styling across your presentation to headings and body text. Choose fonts from the Google Fonts library and select from a range of font weights. Easily customize the background colour.
In the near future, you'll be able to select images for backgrounds and more.
With a paid subscription, make Slides Generator your own by adding your own logo branding to your presentations.
Need to make your presentation available for a certain audience for a certain time period?
With a paid subscription, you'll be able to easily password protect your presentations. Easily change the password at any time.
Here's how to go from document to presentation in a few easy steps.
On the free tier, your presentations will be available for 7 days.
Those who currently have a paid subscription for Slides Generator will enjoy access to all free and paid features of web slides.
We hope you enjoy using the new product! We've certainly loved building it and we can't wait to keep you posted about new features that we release in the near future!
